About Saville & Co.

Mark Saville

My journey into the world of jewellery began in 1987, as an 18-year-old apprentice in Dunedin.

It was a path that led me to Christchurch in 1991, where I joined a wholesale manufacturing company and more importantly, met my wife, Amanda.

Over the next 30 years, our family grew with the addition of three boys, and my career deepened as I became a 50% partner in the business. While my experience and knowledge grew, I realised I wanted the freedom to bring my own unique designs to life.

This is why I have launched Saville and Co. It is a reflection of this journey and a new beginning.

Built on a foundation of decades of experience, a family's shared dream, and a renewed commitment to personal craftsmanship, Saville and Co. is where I create high-quality, one-of-a-kind jewellery that is as special and enduring as the stories they represent.

Our Process

My initial consultation with people is to work out what they would like. Generally, they have pictures of what they would like, and from there, I do a concept drawing and a quote, after the go-ahead. I may supply a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) render for the customer to look at.

Once the customer is totally happy with the design, I then make the ring. In the example below, I made the ring in platinum, set the stones, and polished the ring. The customer chose a lab-grown diamond, which is very popular at the moment. Lab-grown diamonds are still diamonds. They are man-made and have exactly the same characteristics as natural diamonds.
